  • I've been thinking a lot lately about a conversation I had with one of my friends. We were talking about being real and how you first have to come to the place where you are content with who God made you to be. I think a lot of times we are better at being someone else than we are at being ourselves. We think we know who people expect us to be, so we become that person, when really all people want is for us to be ourselves. I've learned that it's much more relaxing to just be who you are, and when you are genuine, that gives the people around you the freedom to be themselves, too. I was listening to this song, and I thought about how true it really is. So here it is -- something for you to think about.

    STAINED GLASS MASQUERADE

Is there anyone that fails? Is there anyone that falls?

Am I the only one in church today, feelin' so small?

'Cause when I take a look around, everybody seems so strong; I know they'll soon discover that I don't belong.

So I tuck it all away, like everything's okay; if I make them all believe it, maybe I'll believe it, too. So, with a painted grin, I play the part again, so everyone will see me the way that I see them.

Are we happy plastic people, under shiny plastic steeples; with walls around our weakness, smiles to hide our pain?

But if the invitation's open to every heart that has been broken, maybe then we'll close the curtain on our stained glass masquerade.

Is there anyone who's been there? Are there any hands to raise?

Am I the only one who's traded in the altar for a stage?

The performance is convincing, and we know every line by heart; only when no one is watching, can we really fall apart.

Are we happy plastic people, under shiny plastic steeples; with walls around our weakness, smiles to hide our pain?

But would it set me free, if I dared to let you see the truth behind the person that you imagine me to be?

Would your arms be open, or would you walk away? Would the love of Jesus be enough to make you stay???

  • I decided that since I am snowed in today, now would be a good time to update. And I have pictures to post, so that's another good reason.  It's been snowing since last night sometime, and I think we must have around 8 inches by now. I'm so thankful for the wise person who invented snow days!! :) This first picture is from when we went sledding. It was great fun!! And now I don't hate winter quite as much as I did before! ;)

This past weekend I got to spend a couple days with my bestest friend ever, and it was so wonderful!! We stayed up until all hours of the morning, went shopping till we dropped, wore the same pair of pants at the same time, ;) laughed till we cried, and made the most of each minute. I love you, Britt!!!

me&britt 652 me&britt 649 she'd prolly "kill me!" if she knew this picture was on here, but I think it's pretty comical, so I couldn't resist. ;)

Did you know that the coldest possible temperature is -459 degrees Farenheit? I was studying for my Chemistry class that starts next week, and came across that fact. At that incredibly cold temperature, molecules are not even MOVING anymore! Ok - enough of that. These are just some random pictures that I thought were worth sharing. :) First we have a picture taken this morning, after the snow we had ALL weekend. :(

    dec

Next we have my sis and I - attempting to entertain ourselves on an otherwise dull trip to Indiana!

    dec

And here we have a giant gumball I saw in a candy store -sometimes I wish I had bought it for some of my students who like to talk a bit too much! Just kidding! :)

    dec

This was taken on one of our many shopping excursions. And no, we don't have an obsession with Ritz Toasted Chips - we just thought it would make a unique background! :)

    dec

And last but certainly not least, well . . . I believe this picture deserves an explanation. We went to the toy aisle (obviously!) :) and chose a toy that was an expression of ourselves. It was rather interesting! :)

I wish all of you a blessed 2009!!

  • hello everyone! contrary to popular belief, i have NOT dropped off the face of the earth.  life has just been... we'll just call it hectic. teaching has changed some of the smallest details of my life. somehow my students have this belief that i sit around at home with all this free time....or not! it's just not like that. i have become a walking dictionary/thesaurus/counselor/answer key/security guard - all in a day's work. :) but it's good. the other day i walked into my room, and someone had drawn this on my board....

dec notice what the gift says! :)

i thought it was rather humorous myself. what they don't know is that they  just might get that in their stockings this year..........

thursday i took my 11 & 12 grammar class out to eat because they got A's on their test. courtney and i decided that we needed dessert and o my! it was amazing!!!! :)

    dec dec

definitely don't want to try and eat that by yourself! ;)

last night i was in wal-mart and i heard someone talking; their grammar usage was awful!! the terrible sound of it grating on my eardrums almost made me succumb to the urge to cringe!! just one more way my life has changed. :)

and to all of you - MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

sharri, andrea, rhoda - this one's for you!!!

    One Heartbeat At A Time

     ~ Steven Curtis Chapman

You're up all night with a screaming baby

You run all day at the speed of light

And every day you feel a little bit less

Like the beautiful woman you are

So you fall in bed when you run out of hours

And you wonder if anything worth

    doing got done

Well maybe you just don't know

    Or maybe you've forgotten

That you, you are changing the world

One little heartbeat at a time

Making history with every touch and

    every smile

Oh you, you may not see it now

But I believe that time will tell

How you, you are changing the world

One little heartbeat at a time.

With every, "I know you can do it"

And every tear that you kiss away

So many little things that seem

    to go unnoticed

They're just like the drops of rain

Over time, they become a river.

I believe that you, you are changing the world

One little heartbeat at a time.

  • Now we should live while the pulse of life is strong. Life is a tenuous thing...fragile, fleeting. Don't wait for tomorrow. Be here now! Be here now! BE HERE NOW!!!!

i thought i should update before the internet decides to spread its wings and fly again. :) you really don't realize what you have until it's taken away from you. gustav blew through last week - VERY early friday morning. it brought lots of wind and LOTS of rain. it also made for some good memories.

jamaica jolene, emma, and i took a walk down to the gate. thanks, jolene, for letting me splash through the puddles ;) and for letting me hang out at your house for a while. :)

jamaica emma was all dressed for the occasion. :)

jamaica playing candy land by candlelight. life gets interesting when you need to entertain kids for 2 hours in the dark. :)

jamaica are they not the cutest little things in their uniforms?!?! :)

jamaica rhoda and alex take time to smile for my camera.

jamaica that swing about swallows her up, but she loves it!!

jamaica amanda, one of the girls from blossom

jamaica this is aeliyah. she came to blossom yesterday with stitches on her throat - her mother tried to cut her, and then cut her own throat and is in the hospital. it makes my stomach turn to think that someone would do that to their child.

jamaica shelley ann and tina - they came for supper tonight. we had great fun playing games and just hanging out.

    jamaica

well, that'd be all for now. live well, laugh often, love much!
